Manchester United's Anthony Martial scored three times in an impressive performance

Anthony Martial became the first player to score a treble for Manchester United since Robin van Persie on April 22 2013.

The 24-year-old put the embarrassing run to an end as the Red Devils boosted their chances of a top-four finish by seeing off the toothless Sheffield United at Old Trafford.

Van Persie’s hat-trick came in the final year of Sir Alex Ferguson’s record-breaking tenure as United boss in a victory against Aston Villa as they secured their most recent Premier League title.

Martial joined the club from Monaco back in 2015 and brought his tally for the current season to 19 goals, breaking his previous best of 17 that he managed in his debut campaign.
