JUST IN: Court bars Gov Obaseki from participating in PDP primary

Federal High court sitting in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, has restricted the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki from taking part in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship primary election.

One of the party's Aspirants, Omoregir Ogbeide-Ihiama had moved toward the court requesting the Governor, who simply joinedthe PDP from the All Progressives Congress, APC, to be halted from taking part in the primaries.

Omoregir Ogbeide-Ihama contended that since Obaseki was not part of the applicants screened by the PDP National Working Committee, NWC at first before the date on the schedule primary, he ought not be permitted to take part in the primaries.

The Port Harcourt High Court, presided by Hon. Equity E. A. Obile, thus allowed Ogbeide-Ihama's supplication.

Obaseki had a week ago joined the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP authoritatively.
