Coronavirus: US Vice President, Mike Pence's staffer tests positive

A  spokesperson for US vice President Pence announced on Friday evening March 20 that a staff member in US Vice President office has tested positive for coronavirus.This marks the first known positive test for the virus among the White House staff.

Pence’s office did not reveal dentity of the individual or provide other information about the person or the job they hold.

Pence’s press secretary Katie Miller said in a statement;

"?This evening we were notified that a member of the Office of the Vice President tested positive for the Coronavirus. Neither President Trump nor Vice President Pence had close contact with the individual. Further contact tracing is being conducted in accordance with CDC guidelines."

President Donald Trump tested negative for the virus after coming into contact at his Florida resort with Brazilian officials who later tested positive for the disease. Several members of the White House staff who interacted with the Brazilian delegation or others who tested positive for the virus have worked from home as a precaution, but none of them are known to have contracted the virus.
